Mission Statement for United Way Retirees Association (UWRA): To improve the quality of life of our members in retirement and to utilize the skills and talents of UW retirees to assist the United Way system in achieving its mission which is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities.

 

Vision: UWRA will be seen as the Association of choice by UW retirees and eligible UW employees; and as a valued provider of assistance to United Ways, their communities and other nonprofits.

 

Target Markets: UWRA Members,UWA,United Ways and their employees, and Other Nonprofits and their employees.

 

Strategic Plan: The past 20 years have set the stage and now it is time to strategically position the Association for the future. In December 2001, the Association drafted its first strategic plan and generally followed it for the next seven years. In May 2008, this plan was reviewed and updated. This document represents that effort. Strategic Plan

 

Opportunities are available to assist the United Way field in times of growth, transition, and crises through a variety of programs that are offered throughout the country. Some of the things the Service Corps is involved with include:

 

• Mentoring Program — UWRA Mentors are matched with a United Way CEO or staff member for a period of one year. Guidelines & Application


• Mentoring Plus Program — Opportunity for the local United Way Board, Executive (or other staff member), and the Mentor to expand their relationship for another year.


• Crisis Response Program — UWRA makes available to local United Ways trained Crisis Consultants in times of natural or man-made disasters.


• Interim On-Site Assistance — UWRA members provide on-site support to local United Ways who need experienced guidance and interim assistance.


•
Endowment and Planned Giving (EPG) Program – UWRA trained Planned Giving Consultants provide on-site assistance to United Ways beginning the planned giving process.

• United Way Committee Involvement — UWRA members lend their experience and expertise serving on national and local United Way committees.


• UWRA Endowment Fund — Long term funding vehicle designed to increase UWRA’s impact on communities, the profession and fellow retirees. The first distribution of Endowment income is earmarked for the development of a pre-retirement program for the United Way system.(click for application and guidelines and webinar)


• Retirement Planning Program - comprehensive, continuing effort to provide retirement planning information including publications, online and on-site programs. Retirement Planning Corner provided on the UWRA website.
Retirement

 

UWRA annual dues are $20.00.  Any amount over $20.00 is tax deductible. Other suggested levels for those who wish to provide additional support are listed below. 

 

1.                  Supporting $21 to $49

2.                  Sustaining $50 to $99

3.                  Leadership $100 to $249 

4.                  Patron $250 to $499

1.                  Benefactor $500 to $999

2.                  Diamond $1,000+
